Minu

Delete my data

Two routes, depending on whether the phone is yours.

Most of what Minu holds is on the phone that made it โ€” recordings, transcripts and notes โ€” and deleting it takes seconds in the app.

If you signed in to back your meetings up, there is also an account, and it can be deleted from inside the app too. Minu never learned your email address or your name, so there is no profile in the ordinary sense; what the account holds is your meetings and your minutes.

If you signed in

Open Settings โ†’ Backup and account โ†’ Delete account. It removes everything the server holds for you: every meeting, every encrypted transcript and note, your wrapped backup key, and your minutes balance. The meetings on your phone are untouched โ€” deleting those is the separate act below, on purpose, so that closing an account cannot cost you your notes.

One small record is kept afterwards, and we would rather say so: a single date, stored against a one-way hash of your account identifier, recording that this account was once given the free hour. It stops deleting and re-creating an account from handing out a new free hour each time. It contains nothing else and cannot be read back into a person. Write to us and we will remove that too.

If it is your phone

Everything is in the app, and it takes seconds.

One meeting

Open it, tap the lock icon in the top bar, and choose:

Everything

Settings โ†’ On this phone โ†’ Delete every meeting.

Automatically

Settings โ†’ Audio retention โ€” delete recordings as soon as the notes are written, keep them 30 days, or keep them until you say otherwise.

Deletion removes files, not database flags. If something cannot be removed, Minu says so rather than showing a reassuring tick.

Backups on the server

Deleting a whole meeting deletes its server copies too. If that fails โ€” usually because the phone is offline โ€” Minu tells you and you can try again when you have a connection. Uninstalling the app without deleting first leaves those copies in place, so delete before you uninstall if you want them gone.

Your subscription

Held by Apple or Google, not by Minu. Cancel it in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings โ€” deleting recordings does not cancel anything, and cancelling does not delete anything.

If you were recorded and never installed Minu

You have rights over a recording of your voice under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) whether or not you use this app โ€” to be informed, to access it, to object, and to have it erased or blocked.

Ask the person who recorded it, first

It is on their phone. They chose to record, they hold it, and they can delete it in a few seconds using the steps above. This is not me passing you along โ€” it is genuinely the fastest and most complete route, because their copy is the original.

If you cannot reach them

Write to figueroa.jheremiah@gmail.com with:

Do not send a recording or a transcript. I do not need it, and emailing it would spread the thing you want removed.

You will get a reply within 15 working days, which is the period the National Privacy Commission expects. I will act on every copy I can reach and tell you plainly what I cannot โ€” a recording held only on somebody's phone is beyond my reach, and I will say so rather than imply otherwise.
